Such new changes have been introduced to pave the way for ESI Beneficiaries to get the right medical treatment at the right time. This will help in ensuring that no ESI beneficiaries suffer due to lack of facilities at the time when they them at the most. These changes were introduced by ESI Empanelment for the sole purpose of ensuring that no employee under ESI faces any issues in getting the best possible medical care. Some of the changes introduced for the betterment of ESI beneficiaries have benefitted them in the following way:
- The beneficiaries under ESI can now easily be availed of medical care at private hospitals that are being empanelled with ESIC if there is ESIC hospitals are available within 10 km of the individual’s residence. This change applies to PAN India and that too without any need for a referral from the ESI hospitals. This has been done so that no ESI beneficiaries have to face any consequences because of the lack of ESIC’s facilities.
- The introduction of this change mainly focuses on strengthening the medical infrastructure so that better medical care is provided to the ESI beneficiaries. This change was due as there has been a tremendous increase in the number of ESI beneficiaries as this scheme has been introduced to newer geographical locations. With such an increase in number, the older provisions were not sufficient enough to provide the right medical care to the ESI beneficiaries.
- To avail the medical care in such cases, ESI beneficiaries are required to visit the ESI empanelment hospitals with an ESI e-pehchan card or health passbook along with a government-issued identity card preferably the Aadhar card, and thus one is good to go for receiving medical consultation for OPD from empanelled hospitals.
- The indoor treatment at empanelled hospitals can also be availed as there is a need for empanelled hospitals to get the permission from ESI authority that too through the online mode within 24 hours and thus cashless treatment is provided to the ESI beneficiaries.
Hence these are benefits that now the ESI beneficiaries can enjoy because of new changes introduced by the government of India. These changes will ensure that no ESI beneficiaries fail to get the proper treatment and medical care because of the unavailability of ESI hospitals.
