Buy little paint first to try.

First of all, do not rush to the store and buy all paint of your choice for interior painting. Just take a tiny amount first and bring it home. Paint it over a foam board and check what color it reveals during the day with different lights. Once satisfied, then go for the second step.

Know the total area of the house before going to purchase paint

Before purchasing the paint, you have to know how much the total size of your interior is. Usually, it is measured in square feet. Once you know about your interior’s total area, divide the total square feet by 400 Sq. Ft.

Total paint gallon = total square feet of interior/ 400 sq. ft

The answer to this equation will give you the total number of gallons that you need to buy for your whole interior painting.

    Types of paint

Before purchasing the paint, you must know the old paint on the wall. Is it either Latex paint finish or Oil paint finish? It is essential to know about previous paint on the wall. Latex paint cannot be applied to oil paint and vice versa.

The following steps will tell you which type of old paint is on the wall.

    1. Dip a white cloth into rubbing alcohol.
    2. Now rub this cloth on the wall.
    3. If the color starts appearing on the cloth, then it is water-based or Latex color. Now you need to purchase a watercolor gallon.
    4. If the cloth will not change its color, then it’s oil pain, simple. Now you should buy oil paint.

    Eco-friendly paint

This is related to your health which is connected to paint. Typically, paint has more volatile organic chemicals (VCO), which causes the spreading of toxic gases in the interior for years. So, always purchase paint that has a low VCO value. Usually, VCO should be 50 grams per litter is recommended.

Now you know the type and amount of paint for your interior paint. It’s time to tell you about the brushes that are required for Interior paint.

    Required Brushes for interior paint.

The type of brush varies according to the kind of paint.

    For Latex or Water-Based Paint.

Use polyester or Nylon brushes for oil-based paint because they do not absorb water paint and apply the maximum amount of paint on the wall. If you use natural brushes for latex paint, then the brush will absorb most of the quantity of paint.

    For Oil-based Paint

If you paint the interior with oil paint, you need a natural bristle paintbrush. Like brushes made with ox or hog hair. Because the handling capability of natural bristle brushes of oil paint is better than Polyester or Nylon brushes

For Painting on windows or wood

Foam brushes are better for Painting on wood or windows casing because this complicated work can only be done with foam brushes. Foam brushes are usually made for one-time use only.

Now your purchase is completed. It’s time to start painting.

    Interior Painting Steps.

The first step is, Clean the painting surface of the interior.

First of all, you have to clean the walls and the ceiling and all the places in which you want to paint. Because if you paint on a dirty surface with dust particles and cobweb on it. Then paint will not stick to the surface well.

Clean the oil paint with water and soap. Once you apply the soapy water on the surface, then rinse it with the water. And let the surface dry for at least 24 hours before painting it.

    Floor Covering of interior.

Floor covering is also significant. Because if you do not cover the floor, then the dropping paint will cause a nasty stain on the floor, giving a wrong impression on the overall house environment. Cover with old sheets or drop cloth and do not cover with plastic sheets; if you cover the floor with plastic sheets, then the floor becomes very slippery, and the chances of injury increase.

    Start painting

After this, start painting on the wall and the ceiling with precaution. Once you are done Painting, do not make haste to put everything back in the house. Wait for the paint to dry, or at least allow the paint to dry for 24 hours.

Which Paint Is Ideal For A Living Room?

For painting a living room, latex paints are preferable. Water-based formulations are less or completely free of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), dry faster, and can be washed with water and soap. These significant conveniences will significantly speed up and streamline the professional painter in your living room.

What Types Of Paint Can Be Washed?

You won’t be concerned about spills using Apcolite Superior Durable Emulsion, a removable, water-based paint. Its cutting-edge stain protector makes washing the walls a breeze and shields them from mold, mildew, and fungus.
