Nurses Are the Foundation of the Modern Medical System

History does not stay still, and what was the norm yesterday today is already an outdated concept or even an archaism, and nursing is no exception in this stream of history. The formal origins of the profession go back to the Roman Empire, where services that can now be called nursing work were first documented. Further, nursing in Europe developed parallel with the Catholic churches, which had lazarets. Nursing in its modern medical system sense was conceived at the end of the 19th century by Florence Nightingale, who researched and developed nursing practices during the Crimean War. Around the same time in America, the famous doctor Joseph Warrington wrote a book of manuals for midwives that formed the basis of multiple nursing practices.

In the modern world, a nurse is much more than a person caring for patients and following doctors’ orders. It is a researcher, an observer, and a companion for the patient. From a purely feminine profession, it has become a universal one. The role and importance of nursing cannot be overestimated, and there are more and more vacancies for this position every year.

Without Modern Nurses, There Would Be No Modern Medicine

The need for nurses in America’s hospitals is growing yearly. According to the U.S. Bureau of Statistics, by 2031, more than 195,000 vacant nursing positions will be opened in the country. The position has moved beyond the doctor’s instructions on what medication to give the patient. The modern nurse’s assistant is a person who is at the forefront of solving each patient’s problem:

    • The nurse first meets the patient and brings him to his hospital room.
    • The nurse accompanies a person to the procedures and supports him morally during them.
    • The nurse communicates closely with the patient and can discover an essential detail that may not have been in his original medical history.
    • The nurse is the first to notice changes in the patient’s condition and prevent a negative outcome by making an operative decision.

At the peak of the Covid-19 epidemic, nurses took over the leading role in hospitals. They were the first to notice changes in the condition of patients. They researched which medication was more effective, describing unique cases of the course of the disease, side effects, and unusual reactions.

Same Team With Doctors but Slightly Different Roles

If we talk about the role of nurses and the part of doctors in today’s healthcare modern medical system and who is more important, there is no simple answer. Doctors and nurses work as a team, and their primary goal is the health of the individual patient and the nation. According to statistics, the leaders are still nurses if we talk about direct communication with patients.

The global task of the doctor is to cure the patient. However, the nurse spends most of the time with the patient, 86% of all the people in the clinic. It allows the professional nurse to gather a great deal of important information about the patient’s habits and life, which she can pass on to the doctor, who can use this data to make a diagnosis and choose the best course of treatment.

How Hard Is It to Become a Nurse?

To work as a nurse, you need the proper education and authorization. It can be a college degree or a certificate of nursing school graduation. Estimates are a little more than half, 57%, of the nursing staff in the United States now have a bachelor’s degree, and one in 5 nurses who work in the clinic has a postgraduate degree.

Your education will include theoretical lectures and practical exercises, either on-site or at a working hospital under the supervision of experienced registered nurses, as well as plenty of written work on nursing theory. To save time transferring the material to paper, you can use nursing writing services with practicing modern medical system specialists in patient care. This service has already helped thousands of students on their way to getting a nursing permit.

All your papers will be written by native speakers, checked for originality, and correct from a doctor’s point of view. So if you want to get a job in a hospital but don’t want to waste time on paperwork while you study, use a nursing writing service that will help you with that task.
