Statistics estimate that 142 million Americans went boating in 2017. This is a great and versatile pastime; however, for someone seeking thrills, there are more exhilarating water sports out there.

Extreme water sports are many, and they’re varied in nature. Some are dangerous, others less so; however, all are well-suited to those seeking aquatic thrills.

In this article, we’ve looked at a few of our favorite extreme water sports, explaining a little about what’s involved in each. Read on to find out more!

    Windsurfing

Windsurfing is a slightly more extreme version of regular surfing. It also has the advantage of not being reliant upon the waves.

Windsurfers stand on a board with a sail attached. The wind carries you along, allowing you to reach high speeds on breezy days.

    Wakeboarding

Wakeboarding involves a single rider standing on a small board with a length of cord attaching him or her to a boat. The boat takes off, pulling the rider behind it at high speeds.

You might think that a sport like wakeboarding would burn a hole in your pocket, given the amount of equipment involved. However, that’s not necessarily the case. Wakeboard packages can help you get out on the water without breaking the bank.

    Kayaking

A kayak is a small boat that contains one passenger. It’s more maneuverable than a canoe or another type of larger boat, allowing you to reach trickier locations.

As extreme water sports go, kayaking is not the most intense experience. However, if you decide to bring your kayak onto rapid waters, things can start to get exciting pretty quickly.

    Kitesurfing Water Sports

Kitesurfing can be thought of as a more extreme version of windsurfing. The basic principle is the same Services; you’re standing on a surfboard and using the wind to propel you along. With kitesurfing, however, you’re using a kite rather than a sail attached to the board.

This allows you to pick up greater speed. It also means you can catch a lot of air if you time your jumps well.

    Jetskiing A Water Sports

A jetski is to a boat what a motorbike is to a car. It only has one seat, which means it’s smaller, quicker, and easier to pull off maneuvers in. Typically, one person drives the jetski while another sits directly behind them, similar to a motorcycle.

Some jet skis have engines with over 300 horsepower. That’s more than a lot of small cars!

    Paddleboarding

Paddleboarding involves sitting or standing on a surfboard and propelling yourself with an oar. It’s a great way to explore rivers, lakes, and ocean areas, and it’s great exercise too.

Like kayaking, paddleboarding is one of the more relaxed options on this list. If you’re not in the mood for a white-knuckle ride, this might be exactly what you need.

Make Your 2021 More Exciting with Extreme Water Sports

Extreme water sports might not be for everyone. However, if you’re in the mood for some raw excitement, they might be just what you need. Even if you’re a complete beginner to water sports, you’ll find an aquatic activity that suits you and that you enjoy!
