    How COVID vaccines work?

There are a lot of things that we don’t know about COVID vaccines, and one of the most important things that people don’t know much about is how they work. In fact, not only are we not sure how they work, but we aren’t even sure how effective some of these vaccines are, and this can cause a lot of problems in practice.

Fortunately, the World Health Organization, along with the many medical groups and pharmaceutical companies have been closely working together to provide the most transparent and accessible information about each of the available vaccines. In fact, many media outlets such as Asiaone have made a detailed report on this.

It’s only normal that many will be anxious and even confused by the many differences and mechanisms of each of them. But the most important thing that everyone should know is that all vaccines were concocted with the very same goal. And that is to help us adapt and build the immunity that our bodies need to prevent a particular illness.

    The many COVID vaccines available

To better understand how exactly COVID vaccines work, we need to know the three main types of COVID vaccines currently available today. Not to be confused with the actual vaccine brands, these three main types are basically the different vaccines with different content (or ingredient, so to speak).

The first one is the mRNA vaccine. These vaccines provide instructions to our body’s cells on how to produce harmless proteins that are found in the virus. These vaccines contain essences and materials from the virus to allow one’s body to replicate such protein that our body can then naturally destroy.

The second one is the protein subunit vaccine. These vaccines contain proteins from the actual virus that are completely harmless. But unlike mRNA vaccines, these types of vaccines trigger the immune system to recognize these proteins as something that is not welcome. It makes the body fight these proteins.

The last vaccine type for COVID is called the vector vaccine. These vaccines contain a very weakened transfusion of the live virus. Of course, this weakened version is completely harmless and all it does is it gives special instructions to the body to produce proteins which they can then fight and counter.

There are a handful of COVID vaccines made available worldwide such as AstraZeneca, Janssen’s Vaccine, Novavax, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, and many more.

What can you expect from the COVID vaccine?

At this point, it’s clear that each type of COVID vaccine available out there pretty much has the same mechanisms. That said, you can expect that each of them is going to be just as effective, if not, very recommended. Although, this doesn’t mean that every vaccine has the same efficacy and effectiveness.

The WHO has a list of all such details on their main website if you are interested in seeing the numbers yourself. But suffice to say, all of the current COVID vaccines that are out today, have all undergone thorough tests to ensure that the main objective of these vaccines is all met, in the first place.

Importance of getting vaccinated for COVID

The most important fact that should make you feel responsible about getting vaccinated is the fact that having all your loved ones vaccinated will prevent the virus from spreading. Following all the health protocols is one thing, but getting the COVID vaccination will improve, if not, will guarantee the constant increase of COVID cases.

By having yourself vaccinated, you can reduce your risk of contracting the virus and spreading it. It’s one of the best things that could slow down or even put a stop to this global pandemic. Perhaps what’s better than getting vaccinated is spreading the right information on how exactly we can prevent the virus.
