Exporting to Uzbekistan might seem like a strange concept, considering that you are likely not located there. But this article will show you how to help your Uzbekistan-based clients make.

Uzbekistan has a diverse and growing economy, with the state playing a dominant role. The country’s main agricultural products are cotton, fruits, vegetables, and livestock. The country is also a leading producer of gold, which accounts for nearly 90% of its exports. In recent years, Uzbekistan has increased its gas production, making it one of the world’s top producers.

The average salary of citizens has doubled over the past three years. The average monthly salary in 2018 amounted to 725,000 soums (more than 70 US dollars). The share of salaries in GDP increased from 20% to 30%. Today, Uzbekistan remains one of the most favorable countries for doing business in Central Asia. More than 400 industrial enterprises were opened last year alone.

Uzbekistan is a country of great opportunities for foreign exporters, importers, and investors. Exports to Uzbekistan grew in 2022. Export goods to Uzbekistan mostly include foodstuffs, machinery, metal products, and pharmaceuticals. The main export goods of Uzbekistan are cotton, grain, gold, uranium, and natural gas.

The Uzbek government continues to maintain strict currency controls and a near-total ban on the use of foreign banks within the country, though it has eased some restrictions on accessing foreign currency.

Uzbekistan’s economy is growing because of high prices for gold and oil, as well as the government’s efforts to attract foreign investment. The country has a large pool of labor and an abundance of land, both agricultural and mineral.

    GOST-UZ Certificates Are Needed

We would like to draw your attention to the fact that a new requirement has been introduced for exporting goods to Uzbekistan.

There are new requirements for the content of the documents and their format – the certificates should be issued on paper with watermarks and contain barcodes.

GOST-UZ certificates are issued by the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan or by certification bodies accredited by them.

According to the conclusion of the meeting of the Bureau of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on Standardization, Metrology, and Certification held on October 31st, 2018 in Astana, it was decided that all commodities must be certified according to Technical Regulations “On Safety”, which will come into force in

GOST-UZ certificates are needed to ship goods to Uzbekistan. They are issued by GOST-UZ certification bodies and guarantee that the products comply with the mandatory safety requirements of Uzbekistan.

GOST-UZ certificates are valid for a period of 5 years and can be used for multiple consignments. They are issued in Russian but can have an English translation on the backside.

There are different standards for food products, cosmetics, and other commodities in Uzbekistan. To export your products to Uzbekistan, you will need to obtain the GOST-UZ certificates.

The standard that is commonly used in exporting goods to Uzbekistan is the GOST-UZ certificate.
