Napolean nominated the triumphal arch in 1806, after his great victory at the battle of Austerlitz in 1805, to celebrate the military achievements of the French armies. This arch was designed by Jean Francois Therese Chalgrin. And this monument is 164 feet (50 meters) high and 148 feet (45 meters) wide.
