Breast augmentation is by far the most popular cosmetic surgery in the world. This is the topic that evokes the most emotions, because for every woman the bust is an extremely important part of the body. Experience shows that women are more likely to be afraid to insert implants, since we are talking about a foreign body, but they are also very careful about fat transfer , that is, lipofilling. While it is true that, since the rise of kardashians, fat transfer to hips is gaining popularity, but today we are addressing the common myths surrounding lipofilling for breast augmentation, which is a more common procedure.

In recent years, an increasingly common method of breast augmentation is the use of a biological prosthesis, that is, fat contained in the body, which in certain patients gives a very good and natural result.

The first step in the lipofilling procedure is the suction of fat from a strategic area (for example, the abdomen, thighs, sides, buttocks, etc.), and then its transfer to the desired area.

However, an integral part of the implementation of each new method is the spread of various myths. Some of the most common myths are as following

Myth: The transplanted fat disappears without a trace after a while.

Reality: Of course, it will not disappear anywhere. The volume of the transplanted fat may indeed decrease over time, but the initial result will not be completely lost. As a rule, the fat that remains several months after the operation will not go anywhere else. To clarify, after the operation, it happens that the blood supply cannot sufficiently nourish even the most viable fat cells, so they die. The blood supply plays a key role here, since, for the most part, the result of the operation depends on it. Large fluctuations in your weight after the procedure can also affect breast size.

Experts believes that despite the disappearance of some of the transplanted fat and the very different individual ability to store it, approximately 80 percent of the transplanted fat usually remains. The main reason the breast size decreases after surgery is because the initial swelling subsides. According to research, this process usually takes about three weeks. From the fourth week on, the amount of fat injected will no longer decrease, and any subsequent fat loss is only possible with extreme weight loss.

Myth: You can choose any size.

Reality: Indeed, implants exist in different sizes, but with the help of fat grafting, the size of the bust cannot be radically changed. The key word in this operation is naturalness , and the breast size can be increased by 0.5-1 cup size. Fat transplant for breast augmentation will be the best choice for you if you do not strive for a total change.

The advantage of fat transfer is, firstly, that the procedure can be repeated, and, secondly, that excess fat is sucked from other problem areas and fat transfer to the breast is safe. and an effective method that gives a natural and permanent result.

    Myth: Dangerous and difficult procedure.

Reality: No, this is a simple and generally safe operation. However, it is important to consult with your doctor beforehand, giving him absolutely all the information about your health condition. In addition, the body will not reject the transplanted fat as it is your own fat.

It should be borne in mind that, with a high probability, during the next 2-4 weeks you will experience discomfort, there may be swelling and bruising.

Myth: Fat transplant is for everyone.

Reality: Yes, this statement is true in the sense that this procedure can certainly be done by everyone, but this fact does not mean that everyone will be ideal candidates.

First, you must have enough fat to use. Secondly, in order to achieve a beautiful result, the anatomy of the area where the fat will injected must be suitable. If you are too thin, then this procedure will not be easy.

Fat transfer, like any other surgery, comes with certain risks. You should be aware that, as a rule, this is a very simple and safe procedure, but in theory, risks, nevertheless, always exist. We strongly recommend that all those interested be sure to consult with the surgeon before making a decision and to be 100% honest with the doctor in everything he asks you.

Feel free to talk about those circumstances that at first glance seem unrelated to the procedure. It is always better to get more information than less information.
