We are seeing an increase in the demand for truck drivers, and companies like Leadgamp must strive to offer the most competitive package to attract the best possible talent. Drivers prioritize having regular, reliable schedules that offer flexibility and a sense of ownership over their own time, and pay per mile is a major factor when truck drivers are determining their employment prospects.

How to Find Drivers of Trucks:

    1. Make a job posting.

1.1 Feature the advantages of the position.

Due to the competition to find a good truck driver, you need a job post that will stand out. An effective way to find a quality recruit is to emphasize the benefits of the job such as fixed schedules, designated routes and vacation time. Additionally, while some companies opt to reward drivers based on the amount of miles they drive, this can create an unanticipated strain if the driver is not expecting their original route. To provide greater incentive for quality drivers to answer the job post, your company can offer an alternative in the form of an hourly rate compensation plan on top of set routes.

1.2 Outline the duties and requirements of the position.

Unloading and loading of trucks can place truck drivers in additional health danger, so if you want to find and retain truckers, it is important to provide health insurance or make sure that it is clear that loading and unloading is not going to be part of the job description. Offering peace of mind and clearly demonstrating that you put health and safety as a priority can be a great selling point when looking to acquire truck drivers, who may have encountered negative experiences with other companies.

    2. Post your work.

2.1 Present your work on broad destinations, like for sure.

Once you have composed an engaging and attention-grabbing job description, it is vital to put it up on a widely known job board such as Indeed. Not only are these job boards available to use without any expenses, they are also effective in helping you locate potential truck drivers in a timely manner.

2.2 Place your job advertisement on your company’s website.

Post your job description on your company’s career page on your website, ensuring that it is properly formatted so that it will be picked up by Google for Jobs like owner operator tank jobs. This will help boost the reach of your listing and increase its visibility in Google search results if you want people who are looking for new opportunities to see it.

2.3 Go after job boards just for truck drivers.

If you are aiming to reach a more specific crowd of truck drivers, posting your job to trucking job boards is the best way to go. This will filter the search to a more suitable group of drivers who may fit your desired criteria.

    3. Examine the applicants.

3.1 Use email to send screening questions.

When you are presented with potential candidates for the position, it’s important to send out relevant screening questions via an email in order to ensure that they meet the main criteria for the job. If it’s not possible for some applicants to access email, you should contact them over the phone in order to ask the required queries.

In order to locate truck drivers with sufficient experience and skills, it is essential to establish stringent selection criteria and only consider applicants who fully meet those criteria.

3.2 Set up a test drive.

The best way to evaluate a potential driver’s qualifications is to conduct a comprehensive road test. With this in mind, plan to simulate an actual truck driver’s regular workday as closely as possible while meeting all of the local regulatory requirements. A road test is an indispensable, foolproof method of determining a candidate’s capability and road proficiency, enabling you to make a well-informed decision.

    4. Give interviews.

    4.1 Conduct interviews via phone.

After looking through the applications, it’s a good idea to initiate contact with the applicants who have what you’re looking for. Proactively contacting them earlier in the process can save time compared to an in-person interview, because you will likely have many entries at this point.

Try to be mindful of any red flags when speaking with the candidates. This could include any reason why the candidate left their previous job that may be detrimental to your business, or if the salary expectations of the job-seeker are far greater than what you are able to offer them.

    4.2 Interview people in person.

An in-person meeting can be scheduled following the test drive, with the purpose of evaluating if the applicant is punctual and well-groomed. It will present the chance to solicit more information regarding the responses given during the telephone interview, and provides an avenue for the candidate to inquire any specifics they may have about the job.

    5. Hire a new truck driver.

5.1 Conduct a MVR test and report.

Because some people are unable to pay for the report themselves, you may be required to carry out an MVR check on their behalf. An individual’s driving violations, such as a DUI or a parking ticket, are detailed in an MVR background check.

    5.2 Make an offer.

When you have identified a great potential hire, it is important to act quickly and make them an offer of employment before another company has the chance to snap them up. Reach out to the applicant with a phone call to let them know they have been successful and then follow up with an email that includes a detailed job description, compensation package and salary, a comprehensive outline of benefits, and the proposed start date for the position.
